It's official: Scarlett Johansson is not down with married life. In a new interview with Playboy, ScarJo blasted the concept of monogamy – and she's well aware that her opinion is controversial. #SorryNotSorry.

In Johansson's view, getting married is choosing a path and accepting the idea that "with every gain there's a loss." Noting that "the idea of marriage is very romantic," the Avengers actress bluntly said that she doesn't "think it's natural to be a monogamous person." Having been briefly married – unsuccessfully – twice (her short marriage to Ryan Reynolds ended in 2011), Johansson isn't speaking from inexperience.

The actress wasn't shy about holding back or tempering her opinion, either. She honestly believes that monogamy isn't natural in general for humans, not just for herself.

"I might be skewered for that," the 32-year-old Marvel star said. "But I think it's work. It's a lot of work. And the fact that it is such work for so many people - for everyone - the fact of that proves that it is not a natural thing." The actress also said she believes marriage does change a relationship – even if the newly-married couple has been together long-term – and that "anybody who tells you that it's the same is lying."

This isn't the first time that Johansson has spoken out about her non-monogamous inclinations. In 2006, while promoting her movie Match Point, she told reporters that she doesn't believe "human beings are monogamous creatures by nature." At the time, despite her doubts about remaining with just one partner, she was still interested in marrying someone if she eventually decided to have children. "When I decide I want to have children with somebody I think it would be nice to be married to that person," Johansson told reporters.

Apparently, actually getting married and having a kid didn't change the Ghost in the Shell star's views, given that she's echoing basically the same ideas over a decade later. The actress recently split from her husband of two years, Frenchman Romain Dauriac, with whom she shares her 2-year-old daughter Rose.

Interestingly, the recently-published Playboy interview actually took place in the beginning of the year – weeks before Johansson and Dauriac publicly announced their divorce. It's still not clear exactly what led to the couple's split, and if the actress' views on monogamy had anything to do with it. In any case, non-monogamy isn't something many people – and particularly many women – are vocal about, so you've gotta admire that gender stereotype-busting candor.
