See Chester Bennington's Final Instagram Post Before His Suicide
Chester Bennington’s final Instagram post dated July 6 showed the Linkin Park frontman being cheered by his British fans at a concert that was a part of the promotional tour for the band’s seventh album “One More Light.” Bennington died by an apparent suicide Thursday — two weeks after the concert.
In his last post on Instagram, Bennington shared his shirtless photo showing his back covered in tattoos as he is applauded by fans during the concert in the United Kingdom. The 41-year-old captioned the photo with an emoji of the Union Jack: “Birmingham, U.K. #OneMoreLight.”

Following the news of his death, Bennington’s fans posted emotional comments on Instagram. While some expressed shock, others commented: “Rest in Peace.”
Linkin Park was scheduled to perform at Manchester Arena in July. However, the gig was cancelled as the arena remained closed after the May 22 suicide bombing at Ariana Grande's concert. The band is due to begin the tour’s American leg July 27. It remains unclear at the moment whether Linkin Park with go ahead with the planned concert without their frontman.
Bennington was found hanging by his housekeeper in the bedroom of his Los Angeles home. His fans were in disbelief when the news of his death broke out. Most of his fans expected it to be a hoax. “Chester Bennington Hoax” quickly began trending on Twitter, however, the news was soon confirmed.
Linkin Park’s rhythm guitarist Mike Shinoda took to Twitter to confirm Bennington’s death.
“Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one,” Shinoda wrote in a tweet.
Bennington died on late singer Chris Cornell’s 53rd birthday. He was deeply affected by Cornell’s suicide May 18. He also penned a letter to the late Soungarden singer after his death.
“I’m still weeping, with sadness, as well as gratitude for having shared some very special moments with you and your beautiful family. You have inspired me in many ways you could never have known. Your talent was pure and unrivalled. your voice was joy and pain, anger and forgiveness, love and heartache all wrapped up into one. I suppose that’s what we all are,” a part of Bennington’s letter read.
At Cornell’s funeral at Hollywood Forever Cemetary, Bennington sang “Hallelujah.”

Bennington’s battle with addiction was widely known. He shared some details about being an alcoholic and his recovery from the same in a 2016 interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal.
“Let me give you a typical day. I’m a recovering alcoholic, that’s the first thing. I have a big family. I’ve got three kids in college, one in high school, one in fifth grade and twin girls who are 5; they are in pre-K. I have two pigmy goats, three bantam chickens, a tortoise, six dogs, two cats, fish, so I have a farm,” he said at the time.
Bennington is survived by his wife and six children.
