Selena Gomez's 'Fetish' freckles divide internet

Selena Gomez debuted a fresh-faced look in a teaser video for her new song “Fetish” — and it might have people talking more than the song itself.

Although a full-length “Fetish” music video isn’t available as yet, clips of Gomez singing to the lyrics can be seen in a Spotify video and on Instagram.

But it was this snap that her makeup artist Hung Vanngo shared that has people talking — an extreme closeup of Gomez’s face with a splatter of faux freckles across her cheeks! Although the post was promoting the singer’s new song, the comments almost solely focused on her freckles.

“Fake freckles,” one Instagram user bluntly wrote.

“She doesn’t have them in the (Spotify) video,” another stated.

“She looks better without.”

A few were adamant that Gomez’s splatter of speckles were real:

“A lot of people can develop them at any age especially from being out in the sun and then they can disappear! People are just rude,” wrote @stunningselenamg.

“Omigod how beautiful some people are without makeup and the freckles!” @edisabelle wrote.

Still, the majority of comments were supportive of Vanngo’s impressive makeup skills and praised Gomez for the fresh look — she does look flawless, after all!

“We all know Selena doesn’t have freckles but clearly maybe she wanted to try them out. That was her choice. There is no need for you brats in the comments to come on Hung’s page and attack him. Get a life,” advised @stunningselenamg. Meanwhile @earianabuteraw said “Omg them freckles got haters shook CTFU iconic. Keep doing your amazing job @hungvanngo king of Selenation. We love you.”

@meeshambhavi_ took a more diplomatic approach: “Who cares about freckles when it is about Selena Gomez?”

With ‘Frecklegate’ on full blast, people seem to have forgotten that Gomez isn’t afraid to switch up her style every once in a while. Last month, the flawless brunette gave us blonde feathered locks reminiscent of Farah Fawcett’s iconic Charlie’s Angels blown back waves for her music video “Bad Liar.”

For the video, Gomez took on four different roles — a father, mother, daughter and a blonde gym teacher who both the father and daughter secretly have a crush on.
