I love a good self-tanner. But I don’t love applying it and waiting for my tan to develop. Sometimes you have to wait about six hours to shower, the tanning solution can rub off on your clothes, and the smell, while not bad, may not be your cup of tea.

Hence why I was pretty pumped when I discovered the St. Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse. It can give you a natural-looking glow in as little as one hour.

Apply the mousse with a mitt (or gloves, as some TikTokers swear by) and wait at least one hour before rinsing it off in the shower with warm water. You can leave it on for one hour to get a light tan, two hours for a medium tan or up to three hours for a dark tan.

Fair warning, it has a pretty strong bronze color to it, but that just helps you see exactly where you’ve applied it. Once you shower it off, the instant bronzer will be gone, and you may have a light glow, but your tan will really develop over the next eight hours.

The streak-free, quick-drying self-tanner is great for applying in the morning before work. It can soak in while you have your coffee and watch the news (or scroll through Instagram). By the afternoon, you’ll be tan and ready to show it off.

I’ve used St. Tropez’s Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse for years. I like to apply it before vacations, dates and weddings, and in all seasons. It won’t stain your clothes or smell all day long like some other self-tanners do. If I don’t use it in the morning, I apply it at night and wash it off just before bed, so I wake up with a nice tan without staining my sheets.

If I exfoliate about 24 hours before applying, the tan usually lasts about a week. Once it starts to fade, I use the St. Tropez Tan Remover & Primer to remove any patchy buildup, exfoliate and prep for my next tan. (Note: My tan usually fades faster on my feet after wearing sneakers to work out and on my face, where I apply serums and retinol to renew my skin.)

You can get the largest bottle of the St. Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse for $44 or start with a mini travel size for $19 at Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom and more. Sephora also sells a starter kit for $20 with a small bottle, a velvet applicator mitt and a reusable bag for storing it.

You can skip the dangerous UV rays and expensive spray tans. Get your glow on seriously fast with just one bottle. As a self-tanning regular, I say that this stuff really is the best.
