Get Seriously Excited for the 9 New Cereals That General Mills Is Introducing

The new year is right around the corner, and General Mills is giving cereal fans many reasons to celebrate.

In December, the Minneapolis-based food conglomerate announced that it's bringing nine new cereals and granolas to market in 2025, including the return of a Cheerios innovation for those looking to significantly up their protein intake.

According to the company, Cheerios Protein, which was last seen on shelves more than five years ago, is one of its new cereals. It will be available in Strawberry and Cinnamon flavors, each with eight grams of protein per serving, designed for "families looking for delicious, nutritionally balanced meal solutions."

"Starting the day off with additional protein can help our consumers meet their nutritional needs — especially with a reliable and delicious option from a brand they already know and love,” Emilie Knox, the vice president and business unit director of morning foods at General Mills, shared in a statement. “As protein continues to be an important priority for people of all ages, we specifically created Cheerios Protein with families in mind. We wanted it to taste great and to preserve the iconic Cheerios shape, but with a good source of protein, all in a convenient cereal we know everyone at the breakfast table will love — turning all mornings into good mornings.”

Next up is an all-new cereal for kids (and naturally their parents, too) to enjoy: Bluey Cereal. "The fun, lightly sweetened corn cereal is sure to put every family into Dance Mode after breakfast," the brand shared.

Then, there's the new Cheerios Oat Crunch Chocolate flavor, "sweetened multigrain cereal with whole grain" and "lightly coated with cocoa for a fulfilling start to your morning," along with Strawberry Vanilla Chex, which is finally getting nationwide distribution after a short stint as a Sam's Club exclusive earlier this year. The cereal, it added, "is crunchy with the subtle taste of satisfying strawberry and warm vanilla. Perfect with a splash of milk or as the base of a delicious snack."

Nature Valley Dipped Granolas, with its Double Chocolate and Salted Caramel flavors, are two more cereals. Both include nine grams of protein per serving, rivaling Cheerio's new addition.

Finally, Cascadian Farm Family Size Granolas counts as two more with the Oats and Honey flavor and Fruit and Nut, rounding out the nine new ways you can enjoy cereal in 2025. And if that doesn't sound like a reason to celebrate the new year to come, we don't know what does.
