Shakira Shut Down the 2023 MTV VMAs in a Slinky Chainmail Dress With a Sexy Lace-Up Back

She is the moment.

The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards are officially underway and it looks like the queen of Latin music, Shakira, is already the moment. The Columbian singer and trailblazer has had quite a remarkable career: 95 million records sold worldwide, three Grammy awards, and four Moon Person trophies. So, to no one’s surprise, she's taking home this year’s Video Vanguard Award.

It’s rare we get to see Shakira back in the spotlight, but when we do, the fashion and glam never disappoint — and at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards her hips truly did not lie. Arriving on the pink carpet, the singer-songwriter donned a slinky chainmail Versace gown featuring a plunging cowl neckline and a thigh-high slit. But as soon as the singer looked over her shoulder, she revealed thin tie straps and side-boob-baring sides. She styled the sparkly, backless frock with coordinating metallic gold platform Jimmy Choos and kept her accessories to a minimum.

As for her glam, Shakira stuck with her signatures of glamorous soft curls with a middle part and soft pink lips with rosy cheeks.

Whenever, wherever, you will catch Shakira at the VMAs. Her captivating voice and magical moves have been making appearances since the early 2000s. The multicultural artist and music legend first took home the Moonman in 2000 (it was still called that back then) and her fourth in 2007 for her collaboration with Beyoncé for their hit, "Beautiful Liar." In 2009, Shakira returned to the VMAs for a "Who Wore It Best" moment? Arriving on the red carpet, the pop star slipped into the same sparkly Balmain LBD that Pink arrived in, too — and they were all laughs, in case you were wondering.
