Shay Mitchell announces second pregnancy in emotional message to fans

Shay Mitchell is celebrating new life after a heartbreaking loss.

On Monday, the 34-year-old took to Instagram to announce she's pregnant with her second child with longtime partner, Matte Babel. The "You" actress and Béis founder shared a series of photos showing off her growing baby bump with her more than 32 million followers.

The happy news comes shortly after the death of Mitchell's beloved grandmother.

"Saying goodbye to a loved one while simultaneously experiencing the joy of welcoming another into this world is the great cycle of life. It is also my most challenging season to date," Mitchell wrote. "I can’t help but think this was the universe’s plan all along, knowing I would need otherworldly joy to cushion the blow of losing one of the most important people in my life."

Mitchell, who is a mom to two-year-old daughter Atlas, concluded her post with a sweet message to her grandmother and her unborn child.

"Yet, this is proof that love, life, and loss can profoundly exist all at the same time. Gram, I miss you every day," she said. "Little one, we are so excited to meet you. I breathe a sigh of peace knowing you two are already connected in such a cosmic way."

The "Pretty Little Liars" star's emotional announcement was met with support from fans congratulating her and giving their condolences.

"Life is so beautiful. You are so beautiful and resilient and powerful and my inspiration for life," one Instagram user replied.

"Congratulations Shay!" another commented. No doubt this is divine order!"

"Congratulations, Mamma. So excited for your growing family. Your little ones will always have their guardian angel with them on their journeys. Sending you love and a huge hug," another added.

On Jan. 30, Mitchell paid tribute to her late grandmother whom she lovingly referred to as her "best friend."

The heartbroken actress said she was in the midst of "excruciating" grief while sharing some of her favourite memories of her grandmother with fans.

"Although I feel so grateful to have been able to spend such incredible moments with her and my family over 34 years plus having Atlas also be able to have her own special relationship with her, it’s hard to say that this will ever get easier because right now the pain I feel is excruciating knowing that she is gone," she wrote.
