Shay Mitchell isn’t holding back when it comes to talking about her pregnancy.
The 32-year-old is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look into her life as she juggles work and relationships in tandem with some of the not-so glamorous symptoms of pregnancy.
During the second episode of her YouTube series “Almost Ready,” the expectant actress revealed she’s resorted to wearing a diaper.
“Honestly guys, I’ve never known that somebody could pee as much as you do when you’re pregnant,” Mitchell laments to celebrity stylist Monica Rose during a wardrobe fitting. “I swear to God, in a half an hour, I went to the bathroom probably about 22 times last night to the point where I was like I’m f--cking wearing diapers.”
The Canadian actress unbuttoned her jeans to show a skeptical Rose that she was wearing a nude coloured adult diaper.
“I’m literally wearing a full-on f--cking diaper,” she said laughing. “It gets so annoying having to go to the bathroom all the time.”
Frequent urination is common during pregnancy for some women, one of the first symptoms they experience. During the first trimester, a woman’s kidneys can produce up to 25 per cent more urine due to increased blood flow and hormones.
While some women experience a reprieve from frequent trips to the bathroom during the second trimester, it’s not always the case. Changing hormone levels, as well as increased pressure on the bladder caused by a growing uterus particularly during the third trimester can cause some women to experience the need to pee as often as every ten minutes.
The former “Pretty Little Liars” star admitted she struggled to continue working on the set of her latest project. With bathrooms too far away, Mitchell revealed diapers have proven useful already.
“I peed myself; I got a couple good times and then I had to throw it out,” she said. “I’m not doing it. It’s too much. I’m over it.”
