New shop serving ice cream and coffee in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Here’s what to know

A new restaurant in Surfside Beach is hoping to appeal to early birds and night owls by serving coffee and ice cream, according to owner Andrew Romanov.

Scoops and Beans, located at 411 U.S. 17 Business, is a hybrid ice cream and coffee shop that opened on June 5, Romanov said.

Romanov, who is originally from Ukraine, has been in the Myrtle Beach area for around 15 years. He decided to open Scoop and Beans because he didn’t see a similar business in Surfside Beach

There are over 20 flavors of ice cream as well as two sherbets and two sorbets. Prices start at $3.99 for one scoop and have add-ons such as crushed Oreos or waffle cones. There are also sundaes, milkshakes and floats.

On the coffee side, there will be drip coffee, espresso drinks, cold brew and matcha. There are syrups available to add to the coffee and a few fruit flavored matcha lattes.

So far, the affogato has been popular with customers said Romanov. An affogato is espresso on top of ice cream. The sweet and salted caramel pretzel ice cream has also been a well-liked flavor.

Scoops and Beans is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday, although the 10 p.m. isn’t a hard close Romanov said. If there’s still customers in line, he’ll gladly keep the store open until everyone gets ice cream.

“Every customer matters,” he said.

There is seating inside as well as several picnic tables and umbrellas outside. The outdoor seating is dog friendly and Scoops and Beans offers free pup cups, Romanov said.

“I’m excited to join the great Surfside Beach community,” Romanov said. “Expect the best.”
