Why you shouldn't wear the same shoes every day

It’s far too easy wearing the same pair of shoes day in, day out.

Especially if they hit that sweet spot of being appropriate for both work and play.

But if you really want that pair to last you should avoid wearing it daily, according to an expert.

Jim Kass, head of production at shoe giant Allen Edmonds, recently told Business Insider that the best way of getting the most out of your footwear is to “rotate” each pair.

“The best way to extend the life of your shoes is to rotate your shoes and use quality shoe trees after each wear,” he said.

Because as you wear your shoes, the leather soaks up the perspiration given off by your feet (no, no one is exempt from this fact) which is totally fine – but only if you give your shoes a chance to dry.

“If you wear the same pair everyday, your shoes don’t have ample time to dry and they won’t maintain their shape,” Kass added.

And they’ll get pretty stinky, too, not to mention that damp leather is more prone to scratches – hardly desirable qualities in a smart shoe.

So at the very least, get yourself one another pair and create your very own footwear tag team.
