Update, October 20, 2021 at 12:12 p.m. ET:

Per reports, AGT Extreme has temporarily stopped production after an act with stuntman Jonathan Goodwin at Atlanta Motor Speedway went terribly wrong. According to reporting and graphic footage obtained by TMZ, Jonathan was performing a stunt during an AGT rehearsal when he got sandwiched between two cars that were suspended in the air, which prompted a rigged explosive to go off. Per the outlet, Jonathan was supposed to fall underneath the cars before they crashed, but because the timing was off, he was crushed between them and later, per 9-1-1 audio, "fell about 40 feet, missed the airbag [and] landed on his head."

"During a rehearsal last evening for America's Got Talent: Extreme, an accident occurred in which escape artist Jonathan Goodwin was injured while performing his act," a spokesperson for the show told People in a statement. "He was responsive and was immediately taken to the hospital where he is continuing to receive medical care. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family as we await further updates on his condition."

On Tuesday, Jonathan posted on Instagram to update fans on his road to recovery. His Instagram caption reads:

You can’t say you don’t get out what you put in. Ive tried my hardest over the years to be kind, thoughtful, honest supportive and good. A couple of days ago my life took a complete left turn… and the out pouring of love from all the corners of the world; from people I didn’t even think would know or remember me… has just been astonishing. Truly incredible. I will have a lot to say on that matter and the benefits of being kind in the future.. but thank you. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and sent their love and support. It literally has been a lifesaver. There are a few people who should not remain nameless. Firstly Tony, stuart and Jenni (not tagged as it seemed in appropriate) Milligan, Joe, Grace, Jane, Helen, mum and dad and simon and danny. Then most importantly my fiancé and the best thing to ever happen to me, Amanda. I have been to the very brink and dodged the worst that a human being can, without fear…because I was protected by love. Love is all you need, so make sure you get some, cos its good shit. To death I say nananana boo boo… and to the rest of you… watch this space. There is a long road to recovery and that won’t look like what it did…I may leave the daft sh-- alone for a while, but I have a lot left to do in this world. Maybe we can make something good together?

Judge Heidi Klum commented on the post, "Sending you my love as well ❤️ and a speedy recovery ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻."

America’s Got Talent has showcased incredible acts from all over the world on one stage over the past 15 years. Whether you’ve continued watching for the soulful singing, fascinating magic tricks or hilarious ventriloquism, the popular talent series has something for everyone.

For those who can’t get enough of the heart-stopping acrobatic and danger acts in particular though, you’re in luck. Turns out, Simon Cowell is bringing only the most suspenseful routines to the new AGT spinoff America’s Got Talent: Extreme.

If you’re already on your toes, here’s more information about what you can look forward to with AGT: Extreme:

First off, what is AGT: Extreme?

On May 14, AGT announced the exciting new spinoff on Twitter. “Oh you thought #AGT was extreme enough already?” the show tweeted. “We’re taking the most outrageous and jaw-dropping daredevil acts and having them vie for the ultimate title in AGT: Extreme, coming soon to @NBC! 💥.”

According to Deadline, the new show will feature contestants going "head-to-head in the most wild, wacky and craziest stunts to vie for the ultimate title.” While there aren't yet details on what the winner will receive, we know that AGT typically gives its champions a $1 million prize. Perhaps AGT: Extreme will also offer a similar reward.

When does AGT: Extreme start?

AGT: Extreme is set to premiere during the midseason of summer 2021. While there is no official premiere date announced yet, our best guess is that AGT: Extreme will begin airing episodes sometime between July and August.

Right now, Simon is an executive producer and the only judge confirmed for AGT: Extreme. As for the rest of the panel, it’s too early to say whether AGT season 16 judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofía Vergara and host Terry Crews will join the roster.

How can I watch and stream AGT: Extreme?

AGT: Extreme will air new episodes on NBC. We'll be sure to update this post once we have a set date and tune-in time to share.

If you have a TV, you can flip to your local NBC channel. Otherwise, you can grab your laptop or favorite mobile device to see heart-pounding talent acts on the NBC site or NBC app.
