This Single Mom's Important Message About Her Tax Return is Going Viral

From Woman's Day

Hundreds of thousands of parents are praising this mom for frugality after receiving her tax return, and when you see what she did-you're going to think she's brilliant too.

Forget electronics, games, or fancy clothing-Christina Knaack, a single mother from South Carolina, chose to use almost her entire $5,600 tax return from her minimum wage job to provide for her family by paying for their rent for the rest of this year, Fox Carolina reported. She shared an image of her $5,400 check receipt on Facebook, and explained that necessities for her family come before indulgences for herself or her kids.

The mom of two kids, one 4-month-old and 2-year-old, works one minimum wage job to provide for her family, and does it all by making sure her kids' needs are met first. "Instead of buying my kids the latest Jordans or fancy electronics, I paid my rent for the year," she wrote on Facebook. "I know that a roof over my kids' head is what's important. My priorities are straight." Christina decided to use the leftover $200 to provide her kids with a fun experience.

The single parent never expected to receive so many compliments for what she did for her family. "It's pretty crazy," Christina told Fox Carolina. "I was just sharing a milestone with my friends and family." Christina explained that she is also celebrating three years of sobriety. "I didn't share this for attention from the world," she wrote on Facebook. "I made it public so if anyone shared it, others could see it in hopes a recovering addict would see it and see that life off the streets is possible."

In less than 24 hours, the Facebook post has racked up more than 107,000 shares and 32,000 comments, much of which come from fellow parents and mothers commending Christina. She deserves all of the praise!
