Slingin’ pies: A New York-style pizza spot has opened near a major Midlands high school

There’s a new spot where you can satisfy your pizza cravings in Irmo.

Ferrara Real N.Y. Pizza and Pasta recently opened its doors at 6801 St. Andrews Road. It’s located in the Quail Valley Plaza shopping center that also includes a Subway sandwich shop, the Irmo Seventh Day Adventist Church and other businesses and services.

The pizza shop is just north of Irmo High School, and about a half-mile from Harbison Boulevard, which is one of the Midlands’ busiest shopping districts. The new Ferrara is in a spot that will likely be familiar to pizza lovers. The storefront was formerly home to a Hungry Howie’s franchise, which closed in Sept. 2023.

The menu at Ferrara includes a host of pizzas, as well as calzones, stromboli, pasta dishes and more. The restaurant also has a lunch special with two slices of cheese pizza and a soda for $5.99.

“Our menu is inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Italy, focusing on simple, flavorful dishes that showcase the best ingredients of each season,” Ferrara says on its website.
