This Small-Batch Moisturizer Is My Holy Grail for Dry, Acne-Prone Skin

Whenever I’m on the hunt for a new skincare product, I’m reminded of the scene in Master of None where the main character looks for the best taco truck in the city for hours before finally deciding on one — only to find that it’s sold out. As a person with oily-in-the-summer, dry-in-the-winter, acne-prone skin that’s sensitive year-round, searching for a moisturizer that ticks all my boxes is nearly impossible (and often results in multiple open browser tabs that cause my laptop to crash).

So, for me to finally settle on a new moisturizer away from my list of tried-and-trues means that it has to be out-of-this-world good. And Nuori’s Vital Facial Cream, my newest obsession, is one such product. Formulated without what’s basically a laundry list of all the scary-sounding stuff you’d hesitate to put anywhere near your face (parabens, mineral oils, phthalates, silicones, sulfates, stabilizers, fillers, and colorants), this anti-aging moisturizer has now become my holy grail for reviving dull, dry, and tired winter skin.

However, what really allows this Danish brand to stand out its emphasis on freshness. All Nuori products are made without any form of preservatives (synthetic or natural), and produced in small batches every 10 to 12 weeks in Copenhagen. Its product packages are stamped with batch numbers as well as expiration dates, so you know when to stop putting what might be the skincare equivalent of stale cream cheese on your face.

Without all the bad, what’s left is nothing but the best. This facial cream is packed with a blend of hyaluronic acid, plant-origin squalane, glycerin, jojoba oil, and vitamins C and E, which gives my skin a much needed hydration boost. It glides on smoothly and is easily absorbed, and the lightweight formula never feels heavy or clogs my pores. Sure, $79 can be a lot to spend on a one-ounce bottle of face cream (sorry, bank account), but I’ve found that a tiny, half-a-pea sized pump is plenty for my skin when blended with my serums or facial oil.

The result has been nothing but some of my best skin days ever, and even though I initially decided on the Vital Facial Cream, I already know that my next purchase will be Nuori’s Protect+ Facial Cream, which is formulated with my favorite glow-booster: niacinamide. While the brand is based in Denmark, some US-based all-natural retailers carry Nuori’s products. You’ll find the Vital Facial Cream at Dermstore, along with a great selection of its masks, cleansers, and body care lines.
