Needless to say, after this incident, Sarah Palin is probably not a fan of comedian Sacha Baron Cohen.

The former vice presidential candidate posted on her Facebook that she was unknowingly involved in Cohen’s new show Who Is America?

Palin wrote that she initially agreed to sit down with the comedian, known for creating the characters Ali G and Borat, when she was told she would be speaking to an American veteran. Cohen, in his new CBS/Showtime show, allegedly poses as a disabled U.S. veteran and has tricked some politicians, including former Vice President Dick Cheney, whom he asked to sign his “waterboard kit.”

Sarah wrote: “Yup – we were duped. Ya’ got me, Sacha. Feel better now? I join a long list of American public personalities who have fallen victim to the evil, exploitive, sick ‘humor’ of the British ‘comedian’ Sacha Baron Cohen, enabled and sponsored by CBS/Showtime.”

She says that she and her daughter traveled across the country to meet Cohen in his disguise. She says that she experienced an interview full of “Hollywoodism’s disrespect and sarcasm” and that she removed her microphone and left.

She also alleges that the Cohen/CBS/Showtime production team purposefully dropped off Palin and her daughter at the wrong Washington, D.C., airport after the interview, knowing that they would miss their flights back to Alaska.

Palin’s supporters were shocked at the comedian’s actions and that CBS/Showtime would allow the incident to happen.

One commenter wrote: “There isn’t comedy anymore… today’s entertainers are untalented, ugly bullies who use there [sic] celebrity to demean and diminish anyone who doesn’t speak their sick language! They are the exact opposite of all the things that they spend their time protesting and destroying. They step on everything in their path….”

Others were shocked that Cohen’s new character depicts a disabled veteran, with one writing,Regardless of anyone’s political affiliation, THIS CREEP’s total horrific Lack of Respect for our Veterans is DESPICABLE!!!”

Another suggested prosecuting Cohen, “Is prosecution possible under the Stolen Valor Act?”

However, fans of Cohen, who is known to push the envelope, stand by the comedian.

Showtime Networks President and CEO David Nevins told the Hollywood Reporter, “Sacha is a comedic genius who shocks you with his audacity, bravery, and inventiveness. He is the premier provocateur of our time, but not for the sake of ‘gotcha’ moments. Behind the elaborate setup is a genuine quest for the truth about people, places, and politics. Nobody knows how to cause a stir like Sacha Baron Cohen, and it’s going to be fascinating to watch what happens when Who Is America? is released on the world.”

Who Is America? premieres on Showtime on July 15.
