Netflix is set to release a new documentary about Chadwick Boseman, which will only be available on the platform for a limited time.

This week, the streaming giant shared a new trailer for the program titled Portrait of an Artist, which will premiere on April 17. Per Entertainment Weekly, the film, which is described by Netflix as “a conversation to explore Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary commitment to his craft in an intimate look at the Oscar-nominated actor’s artistry, and the acting process which informed his transformative performances,” will only be available to view for 30 days.

After a 4-year long battle with colon cancer, Boseman died on August 28, 2020 at the age of 43. He fought the illness privately, continuing to make films such as Black Panther while his costars were unaware of his deteriorating health.

The trailer (above) opens with an introduction from the late actor, "I'm Chadwick Boseman. I am an artist," he says. "People call me an actor. I wouldn't necessarily call myself an actor. I would call myself an artist."

In addition to clips of Boseman, Portrait of an Artist will feature the accounts of those who worked closely with him throughout his career, including Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, and Spike Lee.

“Everyone wants to talk about what a great actor Chad was, but he was something much rarer than that,” says Brian Helgeland in the trailer. Helgeland screenwrote 42, in which Boseman portrayed Jackie Robinson.

Boseman’s performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which is streaming now on Netflix, earned him a posthumous nomination for Best Actor at the 2021 Oscars. He previously won the awards for Best Actor at this year’s Critics Choice and Golden Globe awards.

Portrait of an Artist will be available on Netflix on April 17 at 3 a.m. ET.
