Spice Girls support act Jess Glynne has blasted complaints about the sound as “a load of rubbish”.

The Spice World 2019 reunion tour’s first two shows in Dublin and Cardiff had been dogged by complaints from fans that they couldn’t hear the sound from the stage, with some even calling for refunds.

But Glynne told BBC Breakfast: "I honestly think it's a load of rubbish.

"I wouldn't just say it, the show is amazing. I walked out to watch the show on the first night and it's so emotional. I think people always try and find something."

The Right Here singer said of Wednesday's show in Manchester: "I watched it
last night... I didn't get to watch it in Cardiff. I don't know what
happened there.

"I've got to tell you, it's great. And I'm not just saying it because
I'm on the tour. It is great and it sounds fine and the show is wicked.”

Geri Horner joked about the previous problems with the sound as the Spice Girls took to the stage at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium asking: “Can you hear all right at the back?”

Mel B had previously said she “hoped the sound would be much better” after thier opening night in Dublin’s Croke Park which saw some fans walk out due to sound issues.

Scary Spice was celebrating her 44th birthday and was serenaded by fans with a chorus of Happy Birthday.

The start of the Spice Girls tour has been marred by complaints from fans that the sound was “diabolical”. After spending around £100 a ticket many concertgoers complained couldn’t hear.

The days leading up to the concert had seen the band dogged by rumours they were in crisis. Horner and Mel B were said to have fallen out after Mel B claimed she and Horner had had a lesbian fling during the nineties, which Horner denied.

And Scary Spice was forced to deny reports she had gone blind in one eye after being struck with a painful eye infection.

The Spice Girls will play two more shows in Manchester and will then move to Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Bristol, before finishing with three show’s at London’s Wembley Stadium.
