Spitting Image is returning to mock the stars of today as it makes a comeback on the BritBox streaming service, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex among those to be put on blast in puppet form.

The fresh swathe of celebrities and prominent figures set to be satirised in the return also includes Donald Trump, Greta Thunberg and Adele.

It's set to air later this year in autumn with co-creator Roger Law on board, who has said the show "will be global through a uniquely British eye".

"I've refused to resuscitate Spitting Image for years but when my pension ran out and my palm was crossed with silver what could an old man do?" he jested.

Law added: "The new Spitting Image will be global through a uniquely British eye, it will be more outrageous, audacious and salacious than the previous incarnation."

It's the first announcement of an original commission for BritBox UK, BBC and ITVs joint streaming service which launched in November 2019.

A second series is set to arrive the following year on the £5.99 a month service.
