Stanley Tucci adores his wife, Felicity Blunt, for everything that she has done for their family. At the same time, the Searching for Italy host also continues to remember and honor his first wife, Kathryn "Kate" Tucci.
More than a decade after her death in 2009 from breast cancer, Stanley still thinks back to special memories with Kate. Speaking on Justin Long's podcast Life Is Short, Stanley discussed his new book Taste: My Life Through Food and opened up about how losing Kate has affected him over the years. In particular, he revealed what it was like leaving the home he once shared with her. Stanley and Kate officially tied the knot in 1995 and were married for 14 years. A year before she diagnosed, in 2005, the couple bought a six-acre farmhouse in South Salem, New York.
“When my wife Kate died, that certainly [turned my life] completely upside down, and she died in [our] house,” he told Justin in the episode. “It was sad to leave that house. She was a very outdoorsy person. I’m an outdoorsy but she was even much more ... She loved all that, so it was very difficult to leave that.”
Stanley left his South Salem residence in 2013 to move to London, where he now permanently resides with Felicity, whom he married in 2012. But even still, he reminisces about Kate. In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning this January, The Devil Wears Prada actor opened up about how the loss has stayed with him.
“You never stop grieving. You never stop grieving,” Stanley told the outlet. “And it’s still hard after 11 years, it’s still hard, and it always will be hard. But you can’t let it, and she would never want any of us to ever wallow in that grief and let it take over our lives. She would never want that. She wasn’t like that."
