The Starbucks bombardment continues. A seventh new location is headed for Fresno

Fresno really likes Starbucks.

And apparently, the feeling is mutual.

Starbucks likes Fresno enough that it’s in the process of bringing seven new locations to town.

The latest plans to surface call for a Starbucks in southeast Fresno.

It will be built at the southeast corner of Kings Canyon Road and Chestnut Avenue, according to developer David Paynter, president and CEO of Paynter Realty & Investments Inc.

It joins an influx of other Starbucks coming to Fresno.

Where is Starbucks headed?

A future location in southwest Fresno made headlines after Mayor Jerry Dyer released a video celebrating the first Starbucks to come to the neighborhood. It’s slated to open at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Church Avenue in 2024.

Last week, a second Starbucks opened in River Park near Uncle Harry’s New York Bagelry & Coffeehouse after closing during the pandemic. It was remodeled to add a drive-thru.

River Park shopping center now has two Starbucks — three if you count the one inside Target.

At least four more Starbucks are in the planning stages for Fresno, from downtown to Figarden Drive, and Chestnut and Olive avenues, as The Bee reported last week.

Southeast Fresno Starbucks

It will be a while before the Starbucks at Chestnut and Kings Canyon opens. It could open in December or early next year, Paynter said.

The business will be just south of the Walgreens, between FoodsCo and Chestnut Avenue.

It will be on the site of what is now an empty tire shop. That will be torn down and the Starbucks built in its place, he said.

It will be small, just 1,000 square feet, according to leases reported to The Fresno Bee. It will have a drive-thru.

Unlike north of Highway 180 (which is saturated with dozens of Starbucks), there aren’t many locations in southeast Fresno.

There’s one at the northwest corner of Clovis and Kings Canyon Road. Another is kitty corner across the intersection inside Vons.

Coffee lovers need to drive nearly five miles west to get to the Starbucks at Tulare Avenue and First Street, or drive north to Peach and McKinley avenues.
