Stella McCartney’s sister Mary launches capsule collection

Stella McCartney's photographer sister Mary McCartney has created a capsule collection for Matchesfashion.com. Mary has snapped countless stars with her camera, including Rihanna and Harry Styles, and recently shot the campaign for her sister's Stella Peony perfume, featuring model Arizona Muse. Now she's followed in her sibling's footsteps by creating her own range of scarves called The Body for online retailer Matches Fashion, a venture which was celebrated in London earlier this week.

Mary drew upon her own pictures as inspiration, creating four silk scarves and two woven finishes, with one risque choice – titled The Dress-Up scarf - featuring a photo of a naked woman on it. "I'm more of an artist than a designer, so it's the idea of having a photograph, rather than a designed textile. That's what excited me about it," she smiled to WWD. "First and foremost, the scarves are meant to be worn. I'm quite voyeuristic and I love people-watching, so I'm drawn to the idea of someone having the scarf, and (I'm) daydreaming about them putting it on and then what adventure or travels they'll be taking it on. I even like the idea of seeing them looking quite worn in years to come and thinking how many memories they've been involved in."

She went on to praise Matches Fashion for its "open-minded" approach to style, deeming it the perfect company to team up with for her first design project. And it could be the beginning of something big for Mary, as she hinted to The Telegraph: "I'm not sure what this is the start of. I love collaborating and where this has taken me. It's been really inspiring so as long as it's like that then I'm totally up for it." As for whether she'd be up for a joint venture with Stella, Mary gushed: "Yes definitely, we're always looking for ways to work together."
