Stepdad wins the internet’s heart with pun-packed letter from the Tooth Fairy

Cute leprechauns, public transport and ‘incisor trading’ aren’t the usual material for a letter from the Tooth Fairy.

But one dad has gained some serious points from the internet after penning his own witty missive to his stepdaughter when she lost a tooth.

Kellie Dawson posted the letter on Twitter, saying: “This is what happens when you let your husband write the tooth fairy letter.”

In it he writes as the fairy, with an elaborate description of how he’s been dragged away from a holiday in Bermuda to come all the way back with a “measly two quid” for Scarlett.

The letter is packed with details of a lengthy journey home, using trains, planes, taxis, the obligatory “replacement bus service”, and even a tractor, as well as the annoyance of missing a beach barbecue where there was a “cute leprechaun I had my eye on”.

The icing on the cake is a volley of ‘dad jokes’ and puns, from “bleeding marvellous” to concerns over “incisor trading” and a description of the tooth fairy job as “like pulling teeth”.

As well as the humour, there’s a bit of parental advice reminding Scarlett not to spend her cash on sweets or sugary drinks.

The letter, which Dawson posted on Twitter, has had a great response with one user writing: “This is oddly the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen”. Another was particularly taken by the “incisor trading” joke.

Many praised what a lovely gesture the letter was, prompting Dawson to add: “He is an awesome stepdad.”
