Little Boy Steps Up for His Cousin After She’s Stood Up for Prom
A high school student in Prescott, Arkansas was left without a date for prom when she was stood up right before the big dance. In a heartwarming turn of events, her 5-year-old cousin came to her rescue.
Haleigh Wiley, a junior at Prescott High School, took her cousin Bentley to the dance after the little boy volunteered to fill in.
“Well, my date was my boyfriend, but we got into an argument, and he backed out at the last minute. So when my mom mentioned it, I said, ‘Hey, why not!'” Haleigh tells Yahoo Style.
Bentley loved the opportunity to help out his cousin. As a family member of Haleigh’s shared with KATV, “I will take you to prom, I can do it, I’m a big boy!” Bentley said at the time.
The two are really close, and they looked adorable together in their prom photos.
“That’s my baby, I love him so much! I don’t have any brothers, so he is like a little brother to me! He brings me so much joy,” Haleigh says.
Haleigh really appreciated Bentley’s kind gesture but was skeptical about how it would turn out. “I thought it was very sweet, but I honestly didn’t take him or my family seriously,” she says. “I thought he was going to be afraid to walk in front of everybody!”
She also shared that her classmates were “surprised and amazed” by Bentley’s action.
“Everyone thought he was the cutest prom date ever, the way he stole the show,” Haleigh shares. “He was very brave!”
