Anton Du Beke has revealed he’s glad he didn’t become a dad until he was 50 because he wouldn’t have been ready before then.

The Strictly star and his wife Hannah Summers welcomed twins George and Henrietta in 2017, when Du Beke was 50.

He shared his thoughts on becoming a father later in life on Steph's Packed Lunch, after it emerged that supermodel Naomi Campbell had welcomed a baby at 50.

"I couldn't imagine doing it any other age, but then of course, I haven’t, so I probably would say that,” Du Beke said.

"I wouldn’t have been ready for it earlier in my life, I have to be honest with you.

“I mean my life, my early part of life, was very very strictly focused on me."

He joked: “Me was number one, number two… 

"It softened, I grant you, but yes, I wouldn’t have been ready for a number of reasons."

“One, for that reason, but also financially. I had four quid to my name for most of my life!" laughed the star, who has previously told how he and his wife went through IVF.

Catwalk queen Campbell revealed this week that she had welcomed a daughter.

The model shared a picture on Instagram of her hands cradling a pair of baby feet.
