A fire damaged two homes near the City of Merced Wednesday, according to Merced County fire officials.
At about 11:55 a.m., firefighters responded to the 1800 block of Dunn Road for a report of a structure fire and possible second structure on fire, according to Cal Fire Merced County Battalion Chief Greg Padilla.
According to Padilla, a mutual aid response was initiated and at total of about 30 fire personnel including firefighters from Cal Fire Merced County and the City of Merced Fire Department responded to the scene. Padilla said no residents were inside the homes but it appears that some residents may have been just outside one of the structures at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
Padilla said it is unknown just how many people have been displaced and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
