Following President Trump’s controversial comments where he appeared to suggest using disinfectants to combat coronavirus infections, The View co-host Sunny Hostin warns that Trump’s briefings could be hazardous to Americans watching at home, and called for an end to live broadcasts of them.
“I don’t think that we should be airing these conferences in real-time,” said Hostin. “Americans listen to the misinformation and the musings coming from this president at their own peril,” she continued.
Hostin also criticized the experts present at the briefings, including Dr. Deborah Birx, who have done little to correct the president during his presentations.
“The people that are flanking him are also complicit at this point, like the Dr. Birxes that aren’t saying anything,” added Hostin.
Viewers of Hostin’s comments took to Twitter with their reactions, and some said they agree with The View co-host:
Kudos to @sunny for speaking the truth. Dr. Birx is complicit.— Christy (@ChristyGal20) April 27, 2020
Dr Birx is complicit. She’s almost as dangerous as trump.— bmckenzie (@bmckenz44559503) April 27, 2020
But others said they disagree with Hostin’s comments about Trump and the experts on his team:
@sunny @WhoopiGoldberg @MeghanMcCain @JoyVBehar We have all seen how Trump fires people who are “disloyal to him in public. We need Birx & Fauci on that Task Force. In a normal world we’d expect them to stand up & take a stand, but in Trump world we should know what to expect! pic.twitter.com/2yVVr3zWnB— Nancy Keenan (@nkeenan49) April 27, 2020
I honestly don't think that they listen to him when he's speaking. That's why no one corrected 45.— Vickie Wooding (@vlw52) April 27, 2020
