The team at YouGov conducted a survey earlier this month, polling 2,748 adults in the U.S. who celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa. Among those surveyed, 27% put their winter holiday decorations up before Thanksgiving, while 69% wait until after Thanksgiving to start putting up decorations. The most common times include the day after Thanksgiving (25%) and after Thanksgiving, but before December (24%). So, according to the survey, most people will have their decorations up before November ends.

But even after November, you still might not see sparklingly lights and lawn inflatables in your neighborhood, since only 42% of those who celebrate those winter holidays say they decorate their yard and the exterior of their home. However, if their blinds aren't drawn, maybe you'll get a glimpse of a decked out living room because 70% decorate the interior of their home.

Another interesting finding from the survey reveals that people who decorate for the holidays get their inspiration from a wide variety of sources. Among those surveyed, 25% say they get inspiration from seeing how friends, family, and neighbors have decorated, 23% look to social media for ideas, 13% get inspiration from magazines and websites, and 11% turn to TV for ideas.
