The royal family released their Christmas cards last week and apart from the fact that it’s completely adorable, there is one sweet detail we all missed.

Take a closer look at Princess Charlotte. Do you recognise her jumper?

The little princess is wearing her older brother Prince George’s Fina Ejerique jumper.

It already has a special meaning to Charlotte, who wore the same outfit to pose for a photo with her new little brother Prince Louis.

The jumper, of course, has some more significance to the family.

It was the sweater George wore in the portrait released to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday in 2016.

The Cambridges released their family snap on Friday.

Kate and William are pictured with their three children George, 5, Charlotte, 3, and seven-month-old Prince Louis within the grounds of their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.

Taken by photographer Matt Porteous in autumn, Kate proudly holds her youngest son Louis, who is smiling directly at the camera.

George, who usually wears shorts and long socks, this time wore light blue trousers, a ribbed jumper with red piping and Hunter Wellington boots.

The prince’s new look sent some royal fans into a frenzy as they pointed out the young royal may now have finally graduated from only wearing shorts.

An etiquette expert revealed there’s a reason behind Kate’s decision to dress her little boy in shorts.

“Trousers are for older boys and men, whereas shorts on younger boys are one of the silent class markers that we have in England,” William Hanson told the Express.

“Although times are (slowly) changing, a pair of trousers on a young boy is considered quite middle class–quite suburban.”

The last time we saw the five of them in public was for Prince Louis’ christening in July, however a series of photos of them with Charles, Camilla, Meghan and Harry were released last month to commemorate the Prince of Wales’ 70th birthday.
