If you ever thought that the era of cargo pants in fashion has gone and went, think again. The popular ’90s utilitarian trousers have just received the highest stamp of approval from Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of Givenchy. Keller is the designer behind Meghan Markle’s glamorous Givenchy wedding dress, and she just debuted a series of high-waisted cargo pants and jumpsuits during her Paris Fashion Week catwalk show.Keller is one of a myriad of designers this fashion month who unveiled a version of cargo pants in their Spring 2019 collections. Designers from New York to Paris, which include Prabal Gurung, Jonathan Simkhai, Alexander Wang, Christian Dior, Fendi, Marine Serre, and Loewe, have all made a strong case for the return of the cargo pants. However, these cargo pants are not like those military style versions you might have seen during the ’90s or those sported by 98 Degrees and the Spice Girls during their heyday. These new cargo pants are elevated and tailored. They are styled with chic blazers, cinched at the waist with skinny black belts and paired with glitzy metallic blouses. They are available in brighter, playful shades like tie-dye blues and pastel pinks rather than your stereotypical army green or camo. They are meant to be worn to the office, out at night, and beyond.Ahead, see how high-fashion designers like Keller are bringing back the cargo pant and shop nine versions to get the look today.Read More from Yahoo Lifestyle: • Kendall Jenner emerges from her fashion week drought to walk in Burberry show • The major Bella Hadid runway trend you can copy for $13 • Shop the biggest fall trend now Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for nonstop inspiration delivered fresh to your feed, every day.
"I haven’t walked a show in a long time," the actress and former model said. "I’m in the process — and have been in the process — of aging."
Weird and wild fashion is nothing new to the catwalk. During Paris Fashion Week on Thursday night, Bella Hadid walked down Off-White’s runway wearing what appears to be a plush, padded mini toilet seat around her neck, as one Twitter user noted. Although it’s not actually a toilet seat, it does bear a remarkable uncanny resemblance to one. In the show, Hadid walked alongside her model pal, Kendall Jenner, each of them wearing all-white athletic ensembles. The theme of Virgil Abloh’s Off-White collection was, fittingly, track and field.Real-life track stars from across the globe walked in the show, including English Gardner, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, and Cecilia Yeung. Abloh’s connection to sport is nothing new. Earlier this summer, the designer unveiled his special collaboration with Nike in designing a tennis-themed collection for Serena Williams to wear during the U.S. Open. This collection’s mixture of sport and high fashion felt only natural. Neon-green one-piece track uniforms were intermixed with svelte blazers, snakeskin-print trousers, and a couture version of Williams’ tennis tutu look, this time in a soft shade of baby blue and an asymmetrical tulle maxi skirt. Off-White’s “toilet seat” is just one of many odd and strange fashion accessories to come down the catwalk this fashion week. The 30-year-old entertainer was one of several A-list celebrities to attend Louis Vuitton's show during Paris Fashion Week.
Bart Simpson, the mischievous cartoon character from the iconic animated television show The Simpsons appeared on the fashion catwalk on Wednesday during Off-White‘s Spring 2019 show during men’s Fashion Week in Paris. The character was Virgil Abloh‘s muse for his latest menswear collection, which plastered the cartoon star’s face on a white T-shirt and a black ribbed sweater, the latter of which had Bart’s face surrounded by flames, with the tagline, “Who the hell are you?” On another white tee, Abloh printed a picture of the Simpson family’s home, an unmistakeable image for anyone who was a fan of the American cartoon. The rest of the collection played up Abloh’s signature Off-White streetwear style, featuring plenty of denim jackets, tees, distressed and graffitied jeans, Doc Martens, chain necklaces, and fanny packs.Among the front row celebs were P. Diddy’s sons Quincy Brown and Christian Combs; NBA player P.J. Tucker; rappers Playboi Carti and Swae Lee; and actor Luka Sabbat.Abloh, creative director and founder of Off-White (and former creative director for Kanye West), is also the newly appointed artistic director for men’s design for Louis Vuitton; his highly anticipated first LV collection debuts on Thursday in Paris. Within just a few short years, Abloh has become one of the most highly coveted designers, collaborating with major business conglomerates including Ikea, Nike, Rimowa, Heron Preston, Levi’s, Moncler, Jimmy Choo, Kith, and artist Takashi Murakami. The new Off-White men’s collection is not slated to come out until spring 2019.
