Girl, 11, benched from basketball game for refusing to wear a dress
When 11-year-old Rachel Manfredini is on the basketball court, her height is a considerable asset. But at 5’7″, the fifth grader is self-conscious about it during regular school hours, particularly after years of being told her shorts and dresses don’t meet dress code. That’s why she’s stopped wearing dresses altogether, her mother says, and when she refused to do so earlier this week, her coach at West Cottonwood Junior High School benched her.
