Taylor Swift appears to have taken style inspiration from an unlikely source during an appearance to promote her new album.
The singer, 31, wore a black off-shoulder, fitted black dress with a 'V' neckline to discuss Red (Taylor's Version) on US TV show Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Royal fans were quick to point out the striking similarities between her outfit, which was designed by David Koma, and one of the most iconic ensembles of all time – Princess Diana's "revenge dress".
The late mother of Prince William and Prince Harry wore the glamorous look, created by Christina Stambolian, to an event at the Serpentine Gallery in London in 1994.
It received its nickname due to the fact she wore it on the same night as Prince Charles appeared on television admitting his adultery during their marriage.
The couple officially divorced in 1996, and the princess tragically died in a car crash in Paris the following year.
Swift's new album is a re-recording of her 2012 album Red, the latest release in her efforts to regain ownership of her music – from her debut album in 2006 right up to Reputation in 2017.

Social media users have suggested Swift's apparent nod to the "revenge dress" was "no coincidence".
These included royal fashion expert Elizabeth Holmes, who asked her followers their thoughts on Instagram.
Of the possible link, the author wrote: "My first thought: HELL YES AND I AM SO HERE FOR IT. The notch V in the off-the-shoulder neckline does it for me."
One person replied: "Iconic revenge dress? Oh hell yes. No coincidences."
Another commented: "Nothing Taylor does is by coincidence, this is totally inspired!"
According to Vogue, actress Elizabeth Debicki, who plays the princess in an upcoming series of The Crown, was this week spotted filming a scene in an almost exact replica of the ensemble.
