Taylor Swift Formally Endorsed Joe Biden — With Cookies

Jill Biden Is Going Viral for Adorably Ensuring Joe Biden Social Distances

Dr. Biden is the MVP.

Taylor Swift isn't afraid of voicing her views on politics anymore. While she stayed quiet during the 2016 election, not endorsing any candidates, she has been more active this year. Her latest move confirms that she'll be casting a vote for Joe Biden and she let all her followers know with a batch of fresh-baked cookies. The frosted treats coincided with Swift's V Magazine cover — the Thought Leaders issue, no less — where she discusses her choice and makes sure to urge others to choose leaders who can start the healing process that she feels the country needs.

Swift told V that she's voting for Biden because of his views on LGBTQIA+ rights, his stance on the issue of racism in America, and women's rights. Her cookies featured the Biden Harris 2020 logo meticulously recreated in icing.

She continued, saying that the country needs leadership that takes science seriously and puts people first.

"The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included," she told the magazine. "Everyone deserves a government that takes global health risks seriously and puts the lives of its people first. The only way we can begin to make things better is to choose leaders who are willing to face these issues and find ways to work through them."

It's not surprising that Swift chose Biden and Harris. Elle notes that her most-liked tweet was a message she sent to President Donald Trump after he encouraged police officers to shoot protestors if they began looting. She called him out for "stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism" and feigning "moral superiority."

"I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election," Swift finished. "Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs."
