“Mom, would you like to be my date to my senior prom?”

When Nassir Nbl, 18, asked his mom if she’d like to attend his high school prom with him, she couldn’t have been happier.

Fatima, a single mom of two, couldn’t attend her own prom 18 years ago as she was taking care of Nassir, who was a toddler at the time.

“You told me that you didn’t go to your senior prom because you had me six months prior, and you’d rather spend your money on your first apartment,” Nassir told her.

Nassir recalled his mom opening up to him about this a few years ago as he got ready for his eighth grade formal – and he felt his mom deserved to be celebrated on the most important night of his high school years.

“At that moment, I knew I did a great job raising him,” Fatima wrote in a recent post on Instagram that was shared and quickly went viral, receiving nearly 500,000 likes in less than a day after being shared on The Shade Room.

“The fact that you were able to let your mom relive a moment she missed is incredible,” one woman commented on Instagram. “And momma looks like your sister. You guys are the bomb. She raised an outstanding man, and this alone speaks volume on what you will be in the future.”

“For you to be so mature to show your mother love like this is everything,” another commented. “Nothing but good will come to you, congrats, I hope you had an awesome time and good luck with your future… you’re going to be a wonderful husband.”
