A Target store in Texas is being praised for putting up a memo that encourages moms to breastfeed wherever they’d like while shopping.

A photo of the framed sign displayed at the big-box store in Weatherford, Texas, was posted to a Facebook page called Breastfeeding Mama Talk. The letter explains that customers “are free to nurse wherever and whenever you like” while shopping because “#momsrock.”

It also reminds mothers that the store does have a nursing room for more comfortable and private feeding that is available for their use.

“A peaceful spot to take a break during your Target Run— and it’s even stocked with some free goodies to make you and baby’s time there even sweeter,” the sign says. “Happy Nursing, and Happy Shopping!”

Now, thousands of mothers have commented on the post in support of the message and to share their own positive breastfeeding experiences at Target.

“I had a lady once harass me in the food court at Target. She went to get a manager. And the manager ended up asking her to leave and gave me a free drink,” one person commented. “I was a new mom with a tongue tied baby. That simple gesture made my year.”

Another wrote, “A manager gave me a free water & pretzel when I was nursing a few years ago because she remembered how hungry [breastfeeding] made her. I love Target.”

Others shared their experiences of breastfeeding out in the open and on the store’s furniture displays, noting that most often Target employees have gone above and beyond to make sure that they were comfortable.

“I nursed in the outdoor furniture section, and had a couple staff members make sure I was comfortable,” one mother shared. Another wrote, “With my first I sat in one of their lawn furniture sets and made myself at home.”

Target didn’t immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s request for comment. However, some moms in the Facebook group shared that the store has been accommodating mothers — whether employees or customers — for quite some time.
