A pregnant woman was found dead inside a home in Texas with her unborn baby “forcibly removed” from her womb.

New Boston Police (NBP) said officers responded to an incident at an address on Austin Street on the morning of 9 October.

On arrival, officers found the dead woman whose foetus had been removed from her body, NBP said in a statement.

A female suspect, who has not been named, was later arrested in Idabel, Oklahoma, having fled across the state border following the attack.

According to KLTV, the suspect presented to a hospital in Idabel with the foetus. It did not survive, police said.

The suspect has been charged with the kidnapping and murder of an unborn child, the network reported.

More charges are expected to be brought against her.

At the request of NBP, Texas Rangers are now investigating the attack with assistance from authorities in Oklahoma.

Police have not yet revealed the identity of the victim and are working to establish a motive for the attack.

According to the Daily Mail, the victim and the suspect were known to one another and were described as friends.

The victim was heavily pregnant and expecting her second child with her husband, the outlet reported.
