For many brides-to-be the hair and make-up is almost as an integral a part of the wedding prep as choosing the dress. Almost. Whether you decide to go all out with A-list red lips and full-on smoky eyes or barely-there natural is more your bag, for many women make-up is a marriage must. And brave is the bride who goes completely bare-faced on her big day.

Which is perhaps why this snap of bride Bisola Umoren, from Lagos, Nigeria is causing such a stir online. Because Bisola opted to shun make-up entirely for her wedding earlier this month. And boy did she rock it.

Speaking to Nigerian news outlet, Naij of her decision to go bare-faced Bisola explained simply that she’s “just not the make up type.”

“When my husband first met me, I had not had my bath, but he saw and fell in love with my natural look,” she said.

“I’m not the make-up type. I don’t even wear earrings or drop my hair. I don’t like any form of inconvenience or discomfort on my face, my neck and entire body,” she continued. “It is not a church thing, it is just me and my personal decision.”

“She refused to wear make ups [sic] on her wedding day… Adwoa Mansa, can you do this? I dare you,” the original tweet read.

Some users were full of admiration for Bisola for staying true to her self on her big day, praising her for her natural beauty without products. Others loved the idea of going bare-faced but said they’d never be brave enough.
