While it’s long been a day championed by rebellious subcultures, April 20 (also known as 4/20) has become a celebration of all things cannabis.
Since the 2018 legalization of marijuana in Canada, more brands have begun embracing the benefits of hemp oil and CBD in skincare. While they don’t offer any of the “highs” that typically come with THC, CBD and hemp oil are potent ingredients with healing properties that can help prevent signs of aging, soothe irritated skin, and prevent blemishes.
They’re also rich in vitamin A, C and E, as well as antioxidants, making cannabis-infused skincare a great choice for dry skin. If you’re considering adding hemp or CBD-infused skincare into your beauty routine, you’ll want to note that not all products are created equal.
“CBD isolate is the purest version of CBD. It doesn’t contain any other compounds that you find in a hemp plant," Ildi Pekar, an NYC-based aesthetician and founder of her own skincare line told Forbes.
"This form of CBD oil is best for facial skin as it's pure, doesn't clog pores and is packed with skin-rejuvenating antioxidants."
If you’re looking to incorporate CBD into your skincare routine for its pain-relieving properties you’ll also want to look for higher concentrations in order for it to be effective.
