As the holidays quickly approach, there’s no end in sight to the invites and parties on the horizon. For both men and women alike, the number one question when getting ready for a night out is what to wear, especially if you’re not normally one for dressing up.

To get some suggestions on how to dress for every occasion, we chatted with Dean Handspiker, VP Design for Indochino to get his recommendations on the trends that will have men looking sharp this holiday season.

Company Holiday Party

“A night out with coworkers is the perfect opportunity to show off your personality away from the office. It’s the time to put away your grey business suit and opt for a fitted blazer paired with a fine gauge turtleneck or crisp shirt. Add a little pop with a contrasting pocket square and you have the perfect work-to-play combo.”

Black Tie Gala

“The classic black tux, white shirt and black bow tie is a tried and tested approach to formalwear. It’s never wrong but a tad predictable. Consider switching it up with a midnight blue version or a smart dinner jacket in a subtle pattern. It’s still ‘correct’ but a fresh take on Black Tie - just remember the black tie.”

Cool Cocktails

“Those bright velvet blazers that have been lighting up the red carpets are not just for celebrities. Basic black is an option but go for one of the many jewel tones available to really stand out. Paired with denim and a white shirt you’ll be considered the cool colleague for months to come.”
