Last year, Squid Game took Netflix by storm. According to a press release put out by the streaming service written by director Hwang Dong-hyuk, it only took 12 days for the series to become the biggest show on Netflix ever. So it’s no surprise, then, that Netflix is going back for another round of childhood-games-turned-deadly. And while we don’t have a release date for season 2, we do know some facts that have been released. Gi-hun will be back. The Front Man will be back. And, according an article on Netflix’s Tudum, “Everyone’s favorite killer doll Young-hee is officially off the market and viewers will be introduced to her boyfriend Cheol-su.” And while fans have to wait to find out what that officially means, we can all re-live the excitement in the meantime through Squid Game Halloween costumes.
The show is perfectly suited for some of the best Halloween costumes of all time. It's got horror elements, with a high body count after each of the show's brutal "games." It's got eye-catching iconography, with instantly recognizable looks for guards, players and VIPs. And yet, it's pretty easy to throw together a costume at the last minute, since the characters mostly wear regular clothes and masks. The activation of this doll-like machine is the first indication you get that something is off in the actual Squid Game. It looks innocent, but if you don't follow its rules, it becomes deadly. That puts it in the pantheon of creepy doll-like creations, like Chucky or Annabelle. And yet, its outfit looks anything but terrifying.
The Behind-the-Scenes Squid Game Characters
While all the players are fighting and strategizing for their lives, there's much more going on behind the game. There's the enigmatic Front Man, running the show from behind his craggy mask. There's the VIPs, pulling the strings while betting on their players in their gold animal masks. And then there's Hwang Jun-ho, who dresses as a server to try and figure out what's going on.
