How does it work?

Holding the paw firmly, use the clippers to trim the tip of the nail with a single stroke, making sure to stop short of the quick (the blood vessel found inside the nail). To prevent trimming nails too short, be ensure that the safety stop blocking the tip of the nail is in place while the clippers are in use.

If your pet’s nails are very long, use the tool to trim a small amount and repeat every 7-10 days until nails are at the desired length. This method is especially important to follow since as a pet’s nails grow, the quick grows along with it and can become enlarged if nails become overgrown.

What shoppers are saying

Having earned a 4.6 star rating on more than 3,600 reviews, these nail trimmers are a must-have for any dog owner.

“I have a White German Shepherd with extremely hard thick nails and have been having a really difficult time attempting to cut them,” reads one five-star review. “These nail clippers cut through his nails like butter. They were easy for me to use which made the experience of cutting my dogs nails fast and less traumatizing for him.”

“To be totally honest, I was not expecting much from these but I took a chance. However much to my surprise, these were VERY easy to use, and provided a perfect clean cut every time,” reads another. “My girl let me cut her nails without a fit (which is HUGE because I usually need to wrestle her into position to let me cut her nails).”

Some shoppers have noted that these nail trimmers are on the larger size, so if you do have small hands they may not be ideal to work with as you groom your pet.

The verdict

If you’re looking for a trimmer to cut a small dog or puppy’s nails, you may want to pass on these trimmers since they’re designed for larger nail beds. They are also on the bulkier side, so if you lack the strength for heavier tools these may also be a bit much.

If however, you’re looking for a pair of sturdy trimmers that can tackle even the thickest nails, these are a bargain at just $15.
