I’ll admit that I’ve bought my fair share of sunglasses that inevitably end up scratched, broken or lost somewhere along the way. And although I’ve invested in pricier designer shades in the past, I always end up keeping them stashed away in a safe spot instead of actually wearing them. Rather than shelling out for the latest designs, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’d rather stick with cheap and cheerful sunnies and invest my money in accessories that I know I’ll get more use out of.
Recently, I discovered one of Amazon’s top-rated sunglasses and was shocked to find that they fulfilled both my style and budget requirements. Ringing in at only $18, the CGID Horn Rimmed Polarized Sunglasses are a perfect dupe for Ray-Ban’s Clubmaster Classic style at a fraction of the price.
SHOP IT: Amazon, $18
What are they?
The CGID sunglasses feature a classic retro design that’s universally flattering on both men and women, and comes in a range of colours to choose from. Made with a resin frame and metal hardware, these sunglasses come with a carrying pouch and a cleaning cloth to keep them looking their best when you’re on the go.
The horn-rimmed style has polarized lenses to protect from harmful UV rays and reduce glare reflected off of roads or water. They also feature anti-static and anti-smudge coatings to help maintain a streak-free look with every wear.
Lightweight and versatile, these affordable sunglasses even come in a value pack if you’re looking to bundle and save, with two pairs retailing for just $25.
What shoppers are saying
With a 4.1 star rating on nearly 1,200 reviews, shoppers are loving the design and price on this pair of cool sunglasses.
“Bought these on a whim after being annoyed by the prices at Sunglass Hut,” wrote one reviewer. “Couldn't be happier with them. The aluminum is lightweight and quality with a flexible joint that makes them fit perfectly on my face.”
“These are great, and I am astounded with the quality for the price,” added another satisfied customer. “They truly are polarized, so I never get glare in my eyes, and they look high quality. Best of all, they even include a microfibre storage pouch that doubles as a cleaning cloth.”
Some reviewers were less than impressed with the longevity of their sunglasses, so it’s worth noting that you may want to take extra care of them to make sure that they last.
If you’re worried about paying for expensive sunglasses, only to lose them or break them within a few weeks, a stylish yet affordable pair may be the better way to go. While the CGID Horn Rimmed Polarized Sunglasses may not be the most sturdy pair on the market, they are a great way to protect your eyes this summer.
You do get what you pay for when it comes to sunglasses, and if an inexpensive yet functional pair is what you’re after, you can’t go wrong for $18.
