The McConaissance rolls on with Interstellar, Christopher Nolan’s hotly anticipated space epic that finally lands in theaters on Friday. Fresh off an Academy Award win for Dallas Buyers Club and a hit TV show in True Detective, Matthew McConaughey stars as a father of two who says, “All right, all right, all right” to a mission into the cosmos with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance.
The 45-year-old Texan agreed to sit down with us for another round in our new series, Things We’ve Always Wondered, where we hit Hollywood stars with our lingering questions (including some great ones from our readers). For instance, what does he make of the whole McConaughssance label?
"It’s got a nice a ring to it," he says. "It’s easy to say. It’s got a nice meter."
Among other subjects explored: Does he really drive a Lincoln? (It was a question that was sent in repeatedly and one McConaughey answered begrudgingly — yes, he has one, and yes he drives one — and this was before his ubiquitous ad got so hilariousy lampooned by Jim Carrey on SNL). Who does the best McConaughey impression? Does he get more catcalls now than he did before Magic Mike? And what exactly does he think his aging Dazed and Confused character Wooderson would be up to today? You can find out in the video above.
