Winters can be harsh on your skin, and especially on hands in the cold weather. With the dry air and major temperature fluctuations between heading in and outdoors, I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve suffered from dry, cracked hands in the past.

It was only recently that I found my holy grail product for smooth and soft skin - a $20 cream that I’ve since been using daily. After discovering the Lano Rose Hand Cream Intense last year, it’s become my go-to for hydrating and soothing my hands and nails throughout the day, as well as providing relief from itchy skin.

The star ingredient in this rich cream is lanolin, a natural oil that’s derived from wool and is known for its unique molecular structure. It closely resembles and mimics natural skin lipids, making lanolin an ideal choice for replenishing skin and maintaining a healthy moisture barrier. In addition to lanolin, this cream features shea butter, vitamin E and jojoba oil for extra hydration, along with rose oil for a subtle floral scent.

As a lifestyle editor and self-professed beauty junkie, I’m always testing new products out, which means that I’ll often abandon them after just a couple of uses. With Lano though, I actually managed to use up every last drop, and even repurchase a second tube to replace it.

Including the Lano Rose Hand Cream in my nightly skincare routine and moisturizing before heading to bed has made a huge difference in the painful hangnails that I used to frequently deal with, and on a recent vacation to Mexico, it was probably the only product I regretted not bringing with me. Other shoppers agree with me, and 87 per cent of users would recommend it to a friend.

“I have very dry hands, and I never found a hand cream that works like this one,” shared one Sephora reviewer. “Even though this is a very thick moisturizer, a little bit goes a long way and I would only need to re-apply twice to three (every three to five hours) times a day depending what I was doing.”

“Love this cream, and smell and feel,” added another. “Even though it looks small, it does last a while. Would buy it again and again and again. Very moisturizing and it stays!”

Some reviewers have noted that the cream takes a while to sink into the skin, and I’ll admit that while it’s certainly not the fastest-absorbing hand cream in the world, the end results more than make up for it. My hands are left feeling smooth and hydrated - much more so than any other hand lotion I’ve tried in the past - so I’ll be sticking with my Lano hand cream.

If you’re interested in giving the Lano Intense Hand Cream a shot but aren’t a fan of rose, it also comes in a tropical coconut scent, or in a hand cream duo that includes rose, along with second tube in a fresh lemon scent.
