When you have kids, it’s impossible for it not to affect your social life. As you become immersed in a world of spills, tears and nappies, you find yourself seeing your friends - especially the childless ones - less and less.

Which is why one mum blogger’s open letter to her childless friends has struck a chord with thousands of parents across the internet.

Constance Hall, who blogs from Instagram and Facebook about life with her kids, wrote on Sunday that there is “something I need to say” to her friends without children:

“Dear friends without children. There is something I need to say to you… Thanks. Thanks for giving a f*ck about my kids,” she begins.

“You come to my kids parties, not because your kids have dragged you there but because you actually want to come.

“You laugh at stories about the kids with such authenticity, not just because you can relate but because you are actually interested.

Afternoon naps are a deal with the devil. 30 minutes of peace and an afternoon of grumpy tantrums 😩

“You come to kid friendly restaurants and eat curly f*cking chips while my arsehole children play on your phone and knock your drink over, when you could be at some opening of some cool place with the millions of cool people who invite you out.”

She then thanks these friends for the “inspiration” they bring her.

“You come to my house with interesting stories and give me a fresh inspiration when you speak about your upcoming opportunities,” she continues.

“And you offer me advice that always seems to put a fresh spin on things.”

She also points out that the reasons one may or may not have kids aren’t always simple.

“Some of you chose not to have kids, I admire that so much,” she says.

“Some of you desperately wanted them and instead of being jealous or bitter towards me for having so many you relish in mine and love them with your whole soul.

“I never remember a time before I had kids that I was that gracious and cool enough to sacrifice a Saturday night at the pub so that I could sit on the kitchen floor playing twister with a friend’s kid.

“So thanks for being true Queens.”

And it’s certainly been a hit among parents and those childless friends alike - it’s been liked more than 84,000 times, shared 17,000 times and commented on 15,000 times.

One commenter wrote: “Love this post! My husband and I are child free by choice, but we love our friends with kids and love their kids! Nothing is better than playing airplane with [them] or reading to their little ones.”

While another said: “When I first read the line ‘Dear friends without children’ I have to admit I thought oh here we go again, telling us how much we don’t know and will never understand, and how we aren’t allowed to have opinions because we haven’t given birth.

“But the actual post was so refreshing! My niece is the most special person in my life and I would gladly turn down any social function to spend more time with her (and my sister of course) I hope that one day I’ll be lucky enough to have kids of my own!”
