JCPenney has released a promo for its new plus-size range, and you’d probably expect the same-old same-old from it.

But the department store has defied all expectations by hitting the nail on the head with its latest promotional video.

Featuring body image advocates including Project Runway winner Ashley Nell Tipton and Instagram star Valerie Sagun, ‘Here I Am’ starts off with women recounting negative past experiences of being plus-sized.

Singer Mary Lambert, for example, says that she was discouraged from pursuing a musical career because of her weight.

Best-selling author and blogger Jes Baker, meanwhile, recalls being “the fifth-grader called Hippo”:

“That was a very scary thing for me and something I was spending my entire life trying to change,” she says.

The video then explores each woman’s successful career and positive attitude towards themselves in which they embrace their size instead of feeling ashamed of it.

The video reminds women that anyone can wear bold colours, patterns, and anything they want.

Blogger Gabi Fresh tells women to “go out in a bikini to the beach, go travel the world and hit on that guy you think is cute”.

And why not? Watch the video here.
