Although the world of fashion blogging offers an alternative to the ‘high fashion’ world, it could still do with a lot more diversity.

Which is why Karan Kaur, a 22-year-old student from Sydney, Australia, wants to change it for the better.

Kaur is Sikh, which means she wears a turban - known as a Dastar - every day, and she wants to show the world that women who wear turbans are just as fashionable as those who don’t.

And it only takes a glance at her blog - Style with Kaur - for her to already have proved her point.

“For both men and women, the turban is more than a mere piece of cloth - it is one and the same with the wearer’s head,” she told The Huffington Post.

“Turbans are worn by Sikhs to cover their long hair and with respect to God.”

As an important part of her belief, Kaur explained why she chose to integrate it into her look:

"When I started wearing my turban, I wanted to incorporate that into my style,” she said.

“After years of frustration with the fashion world and my inability to find someone, even a designer who spoke to my needs, I felt it was time I took the measures in my own hands.

"Upon the completion of my research, I realised that a female turbaned model did not exist.

“For males there were prominent turbaned figures in the film and fashion industry but for women, there was none. I wanted to change that.”

And her popularity is on the rise - she currently has 30,000 followers, and says she often receives messages from people saying she’s inspired them to start wearing a turban, or encouraged them to become a better Sikh.
