Tiffany Trump Debuts at Republican Convention in (Democrat) Blue

Last night at the Republican National Convention, the world got a chance to meet one of the least public Trump progeny: Tiffany Trump, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s daughter with his second wife, former model and recent Dancing With the Stars contestant Marla Maples.

Unlike her older siblings, Tiffany has hung back from the public eye and the campaign trail — though, like many other 22-year-olds, the recent University of Pennsylvania grad (and one-time pop star hopeful) has a very active Instagram account.

To introduce herself to the world at large — and tell them why she loves being able to introduce her dad to her friends, especially those who might be somewhat skeptical of him based on what they might have seen in the press — Tiffany wore a sleeveless dress (in Democrat blue!) with a self-tying belt that was a perfect example for college grads everywhere on how to look age-appropriate and professional should you be headed to a job interview or, say, the nominating convention for your father.

Her classic dress and confident-yet-relaxed speaking style clearly endeared Tiffany to audiences too: Google reports that the college grad was the most-searched speaker after last night’s convention coverage came to a close.

And given the recent kerfuffle over the rumored RNC dress code for female reporters, we can’t help but wonder if Tiffany’s dress was also a quiet rebuke to the allegations that the Republican Party and the Trump campaign are asking women to keep their arms covered inside the convention hall. For her sound check earlier in the day yesterday, the youngest Trump daughter donned a white BCBG A-line minidress with sheer, illusion-panel cutouts that is currently on sale for $199.

Amid all the talk of plagiarism plaguing the Republican convention, it seems that Tiffany — rather than play copycat — engaged in a kind of sartorial homage to stepmother Melania Trump. The blue dress that Tiffany wore last night definitely resembles a similar blue sheath worn by Melania to watch her husband debate on CNN earlier this year — a photo of which she had posted to her Instagram:

And the white dress that Tiffany wore yesterday afternoon seems to be keeping in stride with Melania’s (non)color scheme from the night before.

So, perhaps the old (updated) adage is true: The family that dresses together, stays together.
