When it comes to searching for cool new beauty trends, TikTok is the place to be. The platform has introduced us to some of our favorite beauty products and has inspired us to try new makeup trends, and the latest one may be the most helpful of all: an eyebrow mapping filter.
The filter shows users where their brows should start, where the arch should be, and where they should end. However, while this is a harmless trend, we know not to believe everything we see on TikTok. (Ahem, blowdrying your eyelashes.)
To learn if this trending filter is legit or not, we tapped celebrity brow artist Joey Healy to understand everything there is to know about it.

"It's a really cool filter, however, it's not for everyone," he says. "The filter is ideal for someone in their 20s to early 30s who is looking for some brow basics. However, if you're 35+ you might want a little more lift in the brow."
Healy goes on to say that while he loves that the filter shows where the brow begins at the bridge of the nose and where it ends at the outer corner of the eye, the lip part of the filter is completely irrelevant.
Additionally, he cautions people not to do their brows while looking at their phone screen to follow the eyebrow map. "This filter is a good starting point to get you halfway there, but make sure you're using judgment to determine where the brows should really be," he says. Healy also says that you should definitely not use the filter as a mirror if you're tweezing your brows.

Rather than pluck your brows to oblivion — unless you want to because hey, thin eyebrows are apparently back — use the filter as a guide to draw on your ideal shape. Healy says that once your brows are filled in, you can look for strays in real-time, outside the filter, by putting down the phone and looking in the mirror. Then, and only then, should you consider removing excess hairs.
Happy brow shaping!
