'Today' Fans Can't Get Over Jenna Bush Hager's Rare Instagram Photo of Her Parents

From Woman's Day

Like many people around the country, Jenna Bush Hager has spent the last few months hunkered down at home. That means, the Today show star hasn't been able to see her parents, former President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush, since before the coronavirus outbreak.

After taking all of the recommended precautions, the Hager family recently headed to her parents' ranch in Texas for a reunion eight months in the making. "It was great. We got COVID tests to go and see them," she told Hoda on Today. While there, she tried her best to soak up every minute together, especially because it's unclear when they'll be able to safely be together again.

Luckily, we got a taste of the long-awaited moment with an adorable photo of her kids cuddled up with "Grammy and Jefe."

Today show fans flooded the comments with sweet messages:

  • "Beautiful..... Hal looks like Grandpa ❤️"

  • "Your parents don’t age 💗💗"

  • "That baby looks like his papa."

  • "Your parents look SO good!"

  • "Awww!! Your mom looks beautiful! The whole family looks wonderful! Happy and healthy ❤️❤️"

This moment marks an important occasion for the Hager clan: This was only the second (!) time that her parents have seen Hal since he was born last August. "They’d only seen Hal, like, maybe once," she admitted.

According to Jenna, Mila and Poppy were just as excited — if not more so — to spend time with their grandparents."Mila is now waking up at 5 in the morning because she was there waking up, running down to be with her Grammy and Jefe, and I just think even little moments of being with family (are special)."

At the start of quarantine, Jenna shared her concerns about being so far from her parents during such an unprecedented time. "I don't know if I have been so close to Henry [her husband] ever because we're in it, the two of us," she told Hoda back in April. "But I haven't seen my parents, and I miss them. I think that's a very real thing."

Even while they've been miles apart, Jenna has found ways to keep in touch with her parents — even while filming the Today show. In a special Mother's Day episode, she checked in on her mom to see how quarantine was treating her. "We're doing great out here. It's beautiful in Texas and the wildflowers are blooming here at the ranch. It's a really beautiful time to be here," she reassured her daughter. Our guess is that everything's even better now after this overdue reunion!
