'Today' Fans Flood the Show's Instagram After Hoda Kotb Reveals Emotional Family Story

For years, fans have flipped on the TV in the morning to hear the latest headlines from Today show coanchor Hoda Kotb. And off-camera, she also enjoys sharing glimpses of her sweet family, including her fiancé, Joel Schiffman, and their two daughters, Haley Joy and Hope Catherine.
Most recently, the 57-year-old broadcast journalist opened up about the moment she became a mother and how it changed her forever. Speaking on People’s Me Becoming Mom podcast, Hoda shared insight about the first time she met her now 4-year-old daughter Haley Joy in 2017.
“I don’t even remember who was carrying her because all I could see was her,” Hoda said on the podcast. “They put her in my arm … she fit like she was born there. I looked down and these eyes were looking at me and I thought to myself, ‘Forever, for as long as I am breathing, you will be protected and loved and cared for.’”
The NBC cohost shared that she felt an instant connection to Haley and revealed she named her after Halley’s Comet. “It’s once in a blue moon that something beautiful like that happens,” she said.
In 2019, Hoda and Joel grew their family again with the addition of their now-2-year-old daughter Hope Catherine. Needless to say, the two sisters are inseparable. “They are intertwined. They hold hands, they don’t let go,” Hoda told the outlet. “They write each other notes and the teachers deliver them. I’m so blown away by the love that they share.”
After learning more about this incredible time in Hoda’s life, fans couldn’t help but flood the comments section of the show’s official Instagram page with heart-eyed emojis and thoughtful messages.
“You are an amazing person and for you to share your heart and life with a child and provide love and support, you are not only a mommy, you are a wonderful mommy, you are a superhero!” one person wrote. “I absolutely love you @hodakotb 💘 You are magic and light and all that is good in this world,” another added. “❤️ This made me cry so sweet ❤️,” a different fan said. “This made me tear up!! In October 2020, Hoda shared that she and Joel were planning on adopting a third child. While the process has been slower this time around, the parents aren’t giving up on this dream.
